Songs are PLAYING but NO SOUND

I got an automatic update to latest version (ver 0.7.3.629.g36119d704) on Android 4.0.4 on a SAMSUNG-SGH-I747.

Now, I cannot listen through headphones !

Spotify does play on the phone speaker. The phone also detects the headphones when plugged. However, instead of listening to the current playing track, when headphones are plugged, I get silence. Also, other Android related notifications (like adjusting volume) do produce some sound on the headphones. Interestingly, unplugging the headphones makes a playing (although not listenable) track to stop (as to avoid playing on the speaker, as expected).

Am I the only one experiencing this?

May this be a bug in the app?

Spotify staff no dogfooding anymore?

The aparent restart solution (reported here) DOES NOT WORK FOR ME
