My Question or Issue

This problem happens to me only on mobile app. I notice it about two weeks ago. When I open ANY artist, the shuffle play icon is turned on. As if it was default state. Only when I manualy turn it off, it stay this way. But only for the artist I turned it off. So when I select one of the five songs I see on the artist page it plays selected and then it jumps to some random song from the artist and does not continue playing next song.  It happens only with artist. Playlist, radios etc. are played in cosecutive order and can be played on shuffle. As if the shuffle play on artist page was living its own life. This definitely was not in the previous versions and I would like very much to not have to turn it off for every artist I would like his top five songs to listen.

On my wife's iPhone 12 mini, app version 8.7.50.xxxx if the shuffle play in general is turned off, then nowhere in the app are songs played on shuffle. Even the top five songs on the artist page are played in order.

Hi @Sulmaz!

Sounds like you’re seeing a recent change we’ve made. We’re always testing possible improvements, so you or someone else may see something new or get a limited feature temporarily on the app.

Like you mentioned, the Shuffle badge is currently toggled on by default on every artist page, however, you can manually toggle it off for a specific artist and the app will remember your choice. When it comes to playlists or albums, the Shuffle badge will always be toggled off unless you toggle it on.

Thanks for your feedback on this, we appreciate it. We'll make sure it reaches the internal teams at Spotify responsible for the change, so they can take it into consideration in order to provide the best user experience possible.

The Community is always here if something else comes up. Cheers!

on all artists, playlists, albums the shuffle button is toggled on automatically… how to disable this so l can enjoy my albums in order as some are meant to be listened that way. l don’t want to manually turn it off every time l listen to a new playlist or to all songs from an new artist in popular order…

thanks is advance

Hi there @Sullii,

Thanks for the post.

Currently there is no way to manually disable this as it's set by default.

On Playlists - you can click the first song, instead of the green Play button. This will start the playlist in non-shuffle mode from the song you've clicked.

On Albums - some albums will play in order, whereas some will have the shuffle icon on the Play button. In that case you can start the album from the first song to have non-shuffle play.

Hope you find this info helpful.

Cheers.
