Spotify (Android Auto) Doesn’t Play Soundtracks/Albums in full

Spotify (Android Auto) Doesn’t Play Soundtracks/Albums in full

Plan - Free

Country - Canada

Device - Pixel 4a

Operating System - Android 12

Been noticing an issues for a couple years now when using Spotify through Android Auto.  If you select an Album/Soundtrack to play Spotify will play a few songs then go off album and start playing random other music.  You might be able to skip forward 3-4 times to get back to a song on an album but its highly unreliable and extremely frustrating.  Have only noticed this while playing in car on Android Auto, when playing Spotify directly on mobile device, tablet or computer it plays the album in full even lets you select the songs, rewind, etc.

Is there any fix for this issue?  Should think Spotify should behave the same wherever its used.

Thanks.

Hey @torscotty,

Thanks for your post and welcome to the Community!

We understand that you're rocking the free service of Spotify, and we'd like to give you more info on how it works. The situation with your mobile app entering into shuffle mode that you're describing sounds to be as an expected behavior for the free tier. The option to pick and play any track on mobile is available only on selected playlists curated by Spotify.

If you are using the free experience on your desktop, the client there allows for you to choose and pick what to listen, however having a full on demand listening experience on your mobile device is only available with a Premium subscription. More info about the plans and a neat comparison table of their features could be found here.

Hope this clears things up. If you have any questions or need anything else, the Community is here for you.
