My Question or Issue

 

Spotify Lite app has very low audio quality, like the "basic" quality option (i tested it, there's no difference between all of the settings), even with "very high" set on settings, but only while on wi-fi though. If i use mobile data or download the song, it sounds good and the difference is noticeable.
It's not a wi-fi issue cause my speed is good and my mobile data plan is trash and the audio quality is much better. This issue is not present on the normal Spotify app but it's extremely slow and laggy on my phone so i can't use it. 

 

Any thoughs?

The sound quality of the Spotify lite app is set lower by default. This issue is most likely related to the WiFi capabilities of your phone. You can check your phone's app settings and make sure that Spotify Lite is granted all permissions, as there might be a setting which is limiting it's usage in certain conditions.

I've made several tests regarding this issue. It seems that while i'm using Wi-Fi the audio quality automatically sets to the lowest possible even though i have it set to "very high". The cache created using Wi-Fi for a certain song is 1.4MB while using mobile data it caches 8.5MB for the same song. Downloading works fine but i found it frustrating having to download a song just to listen to it with a decent quality over Wi-Fi. This doesn't happen with the normal Spotify app, since i've compared the audio on both over Wi-Fi and data.
I haven't found any settings regarding Wi-Fi data restriction or permissions that wouldn't allow the app to go past "basic quality". The only setting regarding some data limit is the monthly mobile data limit itself within the app that can't be disabled.

I would really like a solution for this since i love Spotify but the app won't work aswell on my phone as the Lite version.

Thank you for keeping in contact and for the shared info.

 

As this appears to be only affecting the quality over Wi-Fi, would you mind trying with a different Wi-Fi network to see if it makes any difference?

Also, it would also be great if you could have someone log in with their account on your device - such as a friend or a family member, to see if the issue persists.

We'll be on the lookout.
