My Question or Issue
I've tried looking through all my settings and Google, but I can't find anywhere that even remotely mentions this.
I have various Spotify playlists set for different alarms, and after I dismiss the alarm, my lock screen shows whatever image the song has taking up my entire screen with "Continue Playing" at the bottom. Since I have the fingerprint reader set, I can't unlock my screen until the image goes away, unless I tell it to continue playing, and then I have to open the app and pause the music to get it to stop.
I would like to keep it where I can see the Spotify widget on my lock screen when I'm actually playing it, but I don't want the take over of my screen after dismissing an alarm.
Hey there, @LadyOleum,
Welcome to the Spotify Community!
Just to confirm, are you using Google Clock or Samsung's Clock app to set up the alarms? Did you notice this after a recent update?
I'd recommend checking the notification settings for both apps to see if there's a option there to toggle this feature off. In any case, a screenshot which captures how things look on your end would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers 🤘
I believe it's the Samsung clock. It was already on the phone when I got it.
Neither app has anything that mentions this function. Even telling my phone not to show Spotify on the lockscreen doesn't work.
Hey @LadyOleum,
Thank you for keeping in contact and for the info shared.
To continue investigating this case, would you mind confirming if the behavior started after a Spotify update or a Samsung clock update?
Also, since you mentioned that this screen prevents you from unlocking your phone, could you confirm how long you've to wait for the image to leave the screen and be able to use the phone again?
Lastly, include in your next response the Spotify version you're currently running, along with the Samsung clock's version to take a better look.
We'll be on the lookout.
I don't know if it started right after an update for either app or my phone. My apps update automatically.
The screen is blocked for ~5 seconds. I can't be the only person with this happening. It's clearly something someone designed on purpose.
Spotify version: 9.0.20.604
Clock: 12.3.30.38
Hey @LadyOleum,
Thank you for keeping in contact and for the info shared.
We've passed this info internally to investigate it further since we could replicate it from our end on a different Samsung phone. We're not sure about how long this could take, but as soon as we get any relevant updates, we'll make sure to post it here.
Thanks again for your report and stay tuned ♪ ♫
Thank you for investigating! I'll keep my fingers crossed for a solution. 🤞
Hey @LadyOleum,
Thanks for the patience!
We're unable to provide an ETA for a fix at the moment, but we’re regularly looking for opportunities to enhance the user experience for everyone, so your feedback on this is greatly appreciated.
In the meantime, make sure you're always running the latest version of Spotify so you don't miss out on any updates.
The Community is here if there's anything else you need assistance with.
It is the same for every Samsung phone. It is an intentional screen lock. Unfortunately, it also violates FCC regulations because it blocks and prevents the ability to access emergency functions for 5 seconds after an alarm is turned off.
I would look into fixing this soonest...as it seems to have fallen off. I will go ahead and place the complaint with the FCC so they may help you stay motivated to remove the script for disabling facial and finger recognition on the lock screen.
Shame on you Spotify for not staying on top of this...I believe you forget sometimes that you are niether the only nor the cheapest streaming service.
