Spotify Stops Responding to Bose Headphones

Since getting a new Samsung S7 and presumably upgrading to the latest version of Spotify I'm noticing a problem whereby I can connect to my Bose Soundlink headphones and the button controls on the headphones can control Spotify, pause/skip etc, but after some time or a stopping of the app the sound will work, but the headphone controls no longer will. Only a force stop of the Spotify app brings control back, but it never lasts. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but this didnt work.

 

Is this a known issue?

I've had the same problem after upgrading the OS on my Macbook. Tried emailing Bose and got no help.
