Spotify advertisement froze my phone

Spotify advertisement froze my phone

Spotify began to play on of those advertisements that gives you ad free listening for around 30 minutes. Well, it began to play and I guess my phone went into landscape from portrait mode during the transition to the ad and now my phone is frozen on the screen with half of the screen a light magenta color with white text saying "Advertisement from the CW" and the other half completely black. The notifications bar is active at the top of the screen (top in landscape) but is unresponsive. I also cannot turn off the phone, and if the screen turns off, when I turn it back on it opens up the the exact same screen. No security page. Please help me! Thank you!

Are yu saying you can't restart the phone by holding the power button? What make/model is the phone?

Yes, holding down the power button does not restart my phone. As for the phone model it's a GalaxyS III. I can still turn the screen on. When I do this it turns on the return and book shelf looking buttons at the bottom of the phone, and it opens to the same half black half magenta screen with the notifications bar activated at the top instead of my security screen. So the power button works to turn the screen on, but not to turn the phone off. It's frozen, or something akin to it. Because the notifications bar is activated (but not usable), and I can see my remaining battery life. It says I have a full battery, but it also said that this morning, so by now it should have been used up a little bit. Not sure if this was the fault of Spotify or my phone, but this has NEVER happend to this phone before, and I only just downloaded Spotify yesterday.

If you can't power it off, the only option is to remove the battery and pop it back in. You should then be able to reinstall spotify following the instructions here.

Thank you! 😄
