Spotify blocks notification bar - no way to turn off

In one of the recent updates a 'now playing' appeared in the notification bar. How do I get rid of it permanently?

It's there even if I turn off all notifications for Spotify. I can hide it if I long press it, but it comes back with the next song. 

It's also a completely useless feature, just FYI.

Please implement a way to disable this weird, useless equalizer graphic thing that covers up my status bar on Android when I minimize Spotify or multitask

Im using a Oneplus 12R and i just caught this same problem after the latest system update.

I noticed the red 1 on your clock so this makes me think its a OnePlus bug

it's annoying
may be OnePlus specific (smart suggestions), but hides useful notifications that exist.

Have tried uninstalling Spotify & every option to try to remove this as it keep appearing

OnePlus OxygenOS 14 "feature" (Fluid Cloud) that can't be turned off, even though their manual indicates it can be. Hopefully (but not holding my breath) they will fix in an update.

I've managed to find a workaround after a lot of googling. It's definitely a bug fron OnePlus side with the 'cloud' feature.

Go to settings>apps>show system apps and search ubiquitous manager service and disable that package. Then wait for sometime or restart device.

Disabling Ubiquitous Manager does the trick!

But it also disables the Spotify widget on the lock screen...

You just need to restart Spotify, not your device.

At the moment at least in Oneplus 12 (Android 14) the Smart suggestion "toolbar" appears in the phone's notification area even though I turn it off. Everytime a new song begins from a playlist NOT played with smart shuffle, the "bar" comes back. Don't know if it's a Spotify issue, Oneplus Issue ornboth but it's annoying as F, as it goes over every other notification icon.

Hi, 

The smart suggestion bar appears everytime a song changes in Spotify. Even after I have given it a long tap and choosing "turn off this reminder". The Smart Shuffle is off on all of my playlists and it doesn't turn on at any time. Only the smart suggestion notification bar appears

My Question or Issue

Hi,

I am a Honor Magic6 Pro user, but I found on reddit that other users face this issue too:

I am desperately seeking how to disable the animated Spotify bubble with album and equalizer that resides at the status/notification bar.

It wraps around an island with camera taking too much space. Also, not only it does nothing but animates the icon with no user action, but it also prevents notifications from other apps showing at all! I am not sure whether it is because of the lack of space or it is supposed to work that way, but it's super annyoing. I have spent several days trying to figure out why I don't get icons as notification from all the apps and it only turned that it was this Spotify feature that was responsible for such.

Banner with controls when you swipe down for notification page is more than enough and this bubble literally is a space and resources waster.

I am on Android 14 and also a premium user, but I am seriously thinking of moving to another music app because of it. 

Let people decide whether they want such bubble and allow the rest to turn it off as it actually impairs the notifications for them.

I am quite sure that I am not alone with the above request and I hope you will respect voice from the community.

Ps. Look at the attached screenshots- you can see that I have two icons and once I play the music they disappear.

Why there is no feedback about this? This is clearly only a UI graphic gimmick, that imapirs actual system capabilities and users can't turn it off.
