My Question or Issue

Spotify has been crashing *very* frequently on this phone ever since I bought it several months ago. I have tried deleting the app and reinstalling, clearing cache, logging out of all other devices, and setting Spotify to online mode, but the problem persists. It happens more often when I am listening offline, which is usually how I use Spotify. It also seems to happen more often when listening to podcasts rather than to music, but I am not sure about this. The problem has become so annoying that I am considering cancelling my subscription. What is going on?

In addition I would like to report two other, more minor bugs related specifically to podcast playback:

1) For some reason, it is often the case that nothing happens when I press play on a downloaded podcast (listening offline). First I need to play a few seconds of some downloaded music, then it lets me play the podcast. Very strange, but it reliably works this way.

2) When I try to resume a podcast by pressing play on the right of the bar at the bottom of the screen, it very often skips to the next thing in my queue rather than resuming the podcast I was in the middle of. Seems to happen only with podcasts, not with music.

I would greatly appreciate any help with these issues, especially the crashing.

Hey @MisterSnrub,

Thanks for reaching out!

Try removing the app's cached data to see if that would make a difference.

In case this doesn't help, we can install a completely fresh copy of the app by removing all Spotify-related data from the device.
To do so - follow the steps here.

Note: Performing either of these actions will remove any content downloaded for offline listening. It will re-download the next time you open the app, depending on your data settings.

Should the issues persist after going through the abovementioned steps, if possible, ask a friend or relative to use their account on your device for a bit.
If the issues are present with their accounts as well, this would mean they are device-related.

If this turns out to be the case - check if you have any battery (or other) optimization settings preventing the app from functioning normally. To do so, take a look at this article here.

Lastly, if nothing helps, you can also reach out to your device manufacturer and ask them if they have any other ideas of how this issue can be addressed.

Hope this helps! Keep us posted 🙂
