Spotify downloads songs but I can't listen offline, because they disappear

I am having an issue with Spotify in which I download new songs to my device but I can't listen to them offline because they disappear. For instance, I downloaded 2000 songs at once in a day, and I eventually want to download a new album the next day or a week later. I go online, download the songs I want, and they are checked as offline. However, when I am not connected to the internet, the new songs i downloaded disappear and it says that I have to go online again to download them. In a nutshell, I download the songs, these same songs have the offline icon, but when I'm offline they are no longer available and I need to download them again. It is really irritating. I'm definitely thinking about quitting Spotify because of this.
