Spotify freeze - Lost offline data on restart

Spotify freeze - Lost offline data on restart

This is the third time the problem arises, and I am furious 😐

For the third time (not continuosly, but randomly after a while) I have spent days (couldn't offline sync be performd through USB cable?Certainly faster!) downloading 11GB of offline music to a Samsung Galaxy S2.

Once done, on unknown circumstances, while using the app it will freeze (busy green circle rotating) requiring a phone reboot to unlock the app.

Upon restart the magic occurs: possible data corruption somewhere, Spotify acts if was just installed, need to configure username, password from scratch, no more offline data on the phone (storage has free space).

Congrats! What the hell is doing Spotify app on crash? Struggling to connect somewhere? Whatever it is, why data should be cleared from phone? Couldn’t Spotify app just scan offline folders on restart/reconfiguration, WITHOUT wiping everything? Maybe users could be prompted to choose to recover data found on the phone OR reset/wipe?

Please fix this as soon as possible and try to release reliable versions in the future!

Hey! The best course of action here would be to try a clean reinstallation of the application.

Give this a shot and let us know if it works. Cheers!

What's a Spotify Rock Star, and how do I become one?

Already tried this. Also tested on a freshly factory reset phone. Same ill behaviour

This is a screenshot for the app when hanged

Facts:

- In my opinion Spotify hangs on very slow data connections (EDGE). In this case the app will struggle to communicate with Spotify's servers, hanging in a never-ending loop state.

- the app was running in offline mode, so the question is why should Spotify try to communicate in offline mode?

- as a result a phone restart is required and as the app is in a hang state, data corruption will occur.

- for a quick and dirty solution, Spotify app should simply prompt user on restart, if the configuration seems damaged.

- Spotify app should ALWAYS keep a previously saved config, handy to use if data corruption occurs. This could be done automatically on app initialization/start.
