Spotify freezes when I change the audio playback device

My Question or Issue

Spotify freezes when I change the audio playback device, e.g. when I start using headphones. I then have to kill several spotify processes via task manager until i can start it again. My workaround is to close spotify, change the playback device and then restart spotify so it cant freeze. Which is annoying as frick. I only encountered this bug since I reinstalled windows on my ssd a few weeks ago. I tried reinstalling spotify which didnt change anything. Any ideas?

Same here. Windows 7 Pro, 2 playback devices that both function with other programs. 

Decription of probllem:

As soon as the playback device is switched, the current song loops a 1 second snippet indefinitely. I cannot restart the current song or change to another song. The Spotify window remains open but the program is unresponsive. Once the window is closed, I cannot repoen it. Error message box reads

I have to manually kill the process from the terminal or process explorer, then relaunch. 

Troubleshooting thus far:

Updated drivers and restored defaults to all playback devices

Uninstalled Spotify, deleted all associated folders in %AppData%, rebooted

Reinstalled Spotify from latest executable setup from official site

Same thing here.

This is very annoying because I have to change from headphones to speakers all the time because of my work. 

Spotify stops playing the song and closing app only closes UI and several processes remain running and have to kill them my self and then restart.
