Spotify keeps skipping or pausing songs on Samsung J3

My Spotify app on my Samsung Galaxy J3 has recently started constantly pausing or skipping to random other songs in the playlist when I'm listening to it on the go. It seems to have gotten worse over the last few days, to the point that the app is completely un-useable. I've seen that this is a common problem and have tried all the solutions I've seen elsewhere (de-selecting 'Optimize battery usage', formatting SD card, re-installing Spotify). Nothing works. It just keeps randomly stopping and starting/skipping to a new song every few seconds.

Does anyone have a solution that might be particular to the Samsung J3?

Have you seen any connectivity issues? Try using it on a different network (Wifi) to see if that's the issue.
