Spotify notifcation player opens on Android when phone is plugged into Computer

The Spotify player in the phone notification bar will open when headphones are plugged in or if headphones are plugged in when the phone is attached to a computer with a USB cord. This happens if an instance of Spotify is open on the computer, if the another audio app is running, and if the Spotify app on the phone is closed. The only options I know of are to turn off Spotify connect or to block  Spotify notification on the phone. These options are work arounds and do not solve the issue as they perminately stop the App from using these functions. The issue is that the app should only open when the user specifically accesses it, not when the phone has connections plugged in. Please provide an option to fully control this issue.
