Spotify plays different versions of the same song on different devices

Solved!

Spotify plays different versions of the same song on different devices

Plan

Premium

Country

Sweden

Device

Samsung Galaxy something

Operating System

Sorry for my lack of technical know-how. It's Android/PC

My Question or Issue

TL;DR: When I listen to "Just the Two of Us" by Grover Washington, Jr. on my PC, it's the normal version. It's 3:57 minutes long, nothing unusual.

But when I listen to the same song (it's in my library and there's only one) on my phone, it's a different, much longer song at 7:18 minutes. This is quite annoying because I prefer the shorter version.

I know I haven't accidentally added two different versions of the song because I've gone to the album from which I added the song to my library and checked. I have even switched devices as the song is playing, and the version changes to match the device. If I listen to the album on my PC, the song is 3:57 minutes long, if I listen to it on my phone it's 7:18.

Does anyone have a clue as to why this happens? I've heard that Spotify stores multiple versions of the same song, but that doesn't explain why one version is the standard on my PC and another is the standard on my phone.

Hey there @LiquidPear,

Thanks for reaching out about this here in the Community.

First up, we suggest that you remove the song from your playlist on both devices and then re-add the version you prefer.

Afterwards, make sure to log out and then log back in to refresh the app.

If this doesn't do the trick, could you send us a screenshot of the song in your phone and in your PC so we can take a closer look? Make sure not to send any private info.

We'll be on the lookout.
