Spotify plays music without any sound

Hi all,

My Spotify has been increasingly but randomly going for periods of time where it plays music without sound. I assume it's playing the music because the bar for song progression is moving.

Things which sometimes help are: skipping through the song and rebooting the phone.

Things which don't help: checking sound settings, deleting app cache.

I've tried reinstalling and the problem comes back as well

Happens with downloaded music as well as streamed. Seems to happen seemingly randomly since Android 7.0.

Using a nexus 6p.

Please help me troubleshoot.

@Ziocahn sure, here are the steps i would take first up:

• uninstall the app, restart your device(s) and then re-install.
• next, you can sign out of all devices here.
• clear the cache for the app.
• try listening on a different device to see if the same problem occurs.

to re-install on android cleanly

Go to System Settings

- Go to "Apps" 

- Find Spotify there

- On Spotify's page, first, tap "Force Close"

- Then tap "Clear cache" if it's not greyed out.

- Then tap "Unninstall" and remove the app.

- If you can, remove the battery now. Power back on.

- Using a file manager on your phone or with your USB cable and your computer, go to Internal Storage > Android > Data and delete a folder called com.spotify.mobile.android.ui

- Reinstall Spotify from Google Play
