Spotify queue shuffles when connecting to car Bluetooth and opening the app

Spotify queue shuffles when connecting to car Bluetooth and opening the app

When opening the Spotify app (either from when it's closed or unlocking my phone) when connecting to car's Bluetooth, my queue reshuffles my current playlist. My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S22 and I have Spotify Premium. This has been happening since a recent update, the one that fixed a previous issue where the first song in a playlist was being switched with another song. I have Spotify Premium and I clear my cache and restart my phone every week, so it should be a problem on the app's end. This has been an issue in the past, but it hasn't occurred for quite a while.

Hi @slowwater8,

 

Could you share a short screen recording which shows the app's behavior in action? That way we can get a clear understanding of how things look on your end. If possible, try connecting a different mobile device to your car's Bluetooth (a friend's or a relative's who uses Spotify would do) to see if the same issue would occur.

 

It's also worth checking your car's Bluetooth settings, as there could be something in there that's causing this.

Hi there,

Apologies for the delayed response, I kept forgetting to start a recording before I started my car, but I finally got around to doing it today.

The following streamable link shows my app when I'm connecting to my car's Bluetooth (couldn't attach it due to size).

I start by showing the songs before and after the current one. It takes a second to connect to Bluetooth, but once it does, you can see the connection in the top right of my phone screen. After a few more seconds, you can see the play button turn to pause for a brief moment before going back to play again. I believe this is when the reshuffle occurs, though I never pressed the Shuffle button. You can see I can't go back in the queue and the songs after the current one are different than before. I tried this again outside of Car Mode and the same thing happens. This did not happen before recent updates, so I think one of them are to blame, though I can get someone else to give it a try with my car. Could this still be looked into on your end as well to see if it's an issue that needs to be fixed?

Thanks for your reply and the video. 

We can get this looked into, but we need to exhaust some basic troubleshooting steps before doing it. This is to rule out if it can be account or device-related before. So if you haven't, we'd recommend running a clean reinstall of the Spotify app on your mobile device. You won't lose any content, but you'll need to download your offline music again.

 

If that doesn't help, then the next step is to try with a different account on your device to check if you have the same issue. If you don't have another account, you can ask a relative or friend to log in with their account from your device. Additionally, when you have the chance, give it a try with another device and let us know if you can replicate the behavior from there.

Lastly, could you try using a different Bluetooth device? It can be a speaker or headphones.
