My Question or Issue

Hi everybody,

Since few days, when I connect my phone by usb to my car. Spotify doesn't want to work and play any song.

It always say me "Spotify ne semble pas fonctionner pour le moment". It's meaning in english "Spotify seems to not working for the moment".

Have you ever seen this problem and, maybe, do you know how to solve it?

Thanks

Hi there @bubu057,

Thanks for reaching out about this in the Community!

Try running a clean reinstall of the app. Follow this Spotify Guide for best results. Doing this is always a good first step in troubleshooting technical issues.

If that doesn't change anything let us know if this is happening when you have Car view tuned on or just as soon as you connect your phone to the car.

Keep us posted.

Hello Alex,

Thanks for your answer and sorry for the delay.

I've made a clean reinstall of the app following the Spotify Guide.

But unfortunately, it doesn't fix the problem.

To answer you, this happened when Android Auto is running on the screen of the car. And when I choose Spotify on this screen, I have automatically this message (see photo attached)

Hey @bubu057,

Thanks for getting back to us.

Could you share if this happens also when using a different connection method, if one is available? Do you have the option to test it with Bluetooth for example? How about with downloaded content and the app set manually in offline mode? You can consult this guide on how to test this out.

We'd love to investigate this further! We'll be here if you have any other questions.

Thanks for your answer,

There's no other possibility to connect the phone with the car, to use android auto. So i connect it with cable, and I have also try with differents cable.

It's the same thing with the dowloaded contents and the app in offline mode, because the app seems the application does not seem to want to launch on android auto.

Sometimes, when it happen, I can fix it by killing the app in the paramaters menu (not easy and safe when you drive). And that doesn't work all the time.

Hey @bubu057

Thanks for the info.

Could you try connecting through Bluetooth and see if there's any difference?

If possible, could you try connecting another device to see if the issue persists?

Let us know how it goes.

Hello Novy,

Thanks for your answer.

Unfortunately I cannot connect it by Bluetooth because Android auto doesn't accept it. The only way it's to do it by cable.

And unfortunately I just have one Android phone so there's no way for me to try it with another phone. Sorry

Hey @bubu057,

Thanks for getting back to us.

Could you borrow a friend or family members account in that case and see if the issue comes up there as well? We'd also appreciate it if you share the exact Spotify version you're running.

It's also a good idea to try disabling any power saving or data cleaning settings on your mobile device. Make sure you try this since such features can often prevent the app from operating at full capacity. In addition, you can try authorizing Spotify to run without restrictions and with all permission enabled.

Keep us posted!

I found the solution on my side:

There is an option to let Android Auto start Spotify when needed without changing the power saving settings.

This method was performed on Android 10 (MIUI 12).

You must first press Spotify until a menu appears, then press “Information”:

Spotify app icon and a menu.

Then you have to press "Auto start":

Page about Spotify information

Finally, activate "Allow the application to be started by other applications":

Page about Spotify auto start settings

Now go back to the home page and test launching Spotify from Android Auto 👍.
