Spotify stops playing mid-song, disappears from status bar but app is still open

Same thing is happening for a couple of weeks now on my Spotify app (premium account), after I've switched to a new Anroid phone (Huawei) - before that no problems at all: Spotify just stops playing mid-song and the app symbol disappears from the status bar. However, the app is still open.

Not sure what to do, re-install? Anyone having (had) the same problem?
