Spotify stops when screen goes off

Spotify stops when screen goes off

I have a Sony Xperia XZ, fully updated, Android 7.1.1 and use Bang & Olufsen H6 headphones. Since yesterday, playback stops when my display turns off, as if I've pressed pause. Happens when I stream or play offline playlists. Tried another set of headphones (Sennheiser), same thing. I don't have third party software that would stop anything. I've not installed any new apps. Suggestions?

Hi @aleks36 and welcome to the Community!

Please follow these steps:

1. Make sure you don't have too much apps running on background unnecessarily, that could be leeching off the memory RAM.

2. If you have the "saving battery mode" enabled, do the test by disabling it.

3. Once you downloaded your playlists, make sure to toggle on the Offline Mode.

4. Restart your phone.

Tell me how did it go. 🙂

My downloaded playlists in offline mode seem to be playing just fine. It's streaming. I turn the screen off, put my phone in my pocket and the music stops within a few seconds (pauses). I turn the screen on, unlock my phone, press "play" and the music comes through the speaker. I unplug my headphones and plug them in again, sound comes through, turn screen off, phone in pocket, same thing. It might be a hardware issue? I'll try a Sony forum.

Could be a hardware issue. Seems to be that the "female jack" is not grabing the "male jack" proper. That happened to me months ago with a couple of speakers, and the problem was the jack, it was a bit floppy, and sometimes at any sudden movement it lost audio and stops/pause the music, no matter what music player I was using.

Rarely could be compatibility headphones issues. Other common issue is the size of jack, be sure which is the proper one for your phone, 2.5mm or 3.5mm. Make sure it holds tight once plugged. And yes I recommend you to try with Sony forum.

I hope you have a quick solution to your problem.  🙂

Cheers!
