Spotify stops working when I import music

Spotify stops working when I import music

When I import my music to Spotify on my phone, the app stops working and I can't open it so I always have to reinstall. I can still listen to everything on my laptop though.

Thanks in advance

Hey @Snarl,

Sorry to hear this.

Here are the next steps to take:

Note: Files or downloads from illegal sources are not permitted.

Spotify supports the following file types:

  • .mp3
  • .m4p (unless it contains video)
  • .mp4 (if QuickTime is installed on your computer)

The iTunes lossless format (M4A) is not supported.

We’ll do our best to match any unsupported local files with songs from the Spotify catalog.

Some of your tracks may be protected in restricted formats. You can install QuickTime on your desktop to allow most of these tracks to be played on Spotify.

If it’s just not playing on your phone, I would do a soft reset on your phone (power off, then power back on your device). Also, please make sure the following is updated:

  • Your phone’s software is up to date
  • Your spotify app is up to date

Hope this helps 😊
