Spotify widget not working on Samsung Galaxy S7

Spotify widget not working on Samsung Galaxy S7

Widget just shows up blank and I can't press anything but the app is currently playing right now.

Have you tried removing the widget and putting it back? What is the launcher you're using?

The widget has been a clusterbuck for a long, long time and removing it/reinstalling doesn't help at all. However, I was just fiddling with my phone and noticed that the widget crashed again – I thought "oh Spotify, I would stop thinking about switching to Apple Music if you finally fixed this" and the widget reloaded as I was looking at it! So they are doing something with it.

I'd be very happy to have a constantly running notification (I have a few of them and they don't trouble me at all) only to have the widget always on. Wish this would be an option in settings.

I have been having the same issue. Have you found a fix?

In the months that passed since then one single thing has been fixed: when the widget is in its crashed state (see screenshot above) you can press it and the Spotify app will open. Previously I had to have a Spotify icon next to the widget for when it crashes, which is often.

The entire app has been redesigned in the last weeks, so has the notification, but widget continues to crash. I guess they think of it as a "feature", similarly to Apple and their bugs.

I also have trouble with my steering wheel controls not working when I have it linked to my car radio sometimes and I never had any of these issues with my galaxy s5

I have the same problem too. But mine doesn't do anything when i press it.

having the same issue on galaxy s7 edge. the widget rarely updates with what is playing. it's usually blank.
