Spotify will pause randomly, and appears in notifications even when closed, sometimes playing a song

I have been having a persistent issue since switching to an Android phone, where when I am listening to Spotify (whether in my car, or with any kind of headphone) and it will randomly pause. There seems to be no regular interval or trigger for this to happen. 

In addition (and I'm posting these together because I'm wondering if they're related) I am finding that often, when I unlock my phone, Spotify shows up in my notifications with the last song I played. (This morning, it was even playing it!) This is without Spotify being open on my phone, and whenever I see this happen, I always clear the notification. 

My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S8, with Spotify 8.4.9.271 armV7, running Android 7.0

The only devices that come up to play my Spotify stuff with are my laptop and my phone, and the apps that have permission to access my Spotify are all mine: Bixby Home (from the Galaxy), Waze, Starbucks, and online logins (support.spotify.com and Lithium) so it looks like it's just me using the app. 

I have also tried both clearing the cache and data, and a full reinstall, though the issue is persisting. Please let me know how I can fix the problem(s).
