I have an archos 101 internet tablet. I downloaded the app from the play store and it immediately gave me the 48 hour free trial. Now that is over it won't let me do anything it just says that I need premium to be able to use spotify. It's so frustrating!! I've downloaded and uninstalled the app about 10 time now and no change. On the website it says that I am using free spotify... so why can't i? AAAAaaaah, somebody please help, I will so grateful!

Hiya! It's the only version of spotify on the google playstore. I've had a look, but can't seem to find a number for it (and I've deleted it from my tablet so can't tell you that either).
Ok, I'm really bad with technology. In my setting it says:
Firmware version 2.4.83 (android 2.2.1)
Boot version unknown/4.04.000001
Is this what you needed to know?
Sorry for being so crap:)
Unfortunately you won't be able to use Spotify free on that device unless it is possible to update your android version.
Spotify Free on Tablets was added in a recent application update which requires android 2.3 or above.

Are there no android updates on the Archos site for your tablet?
Thanks, great idea, but there only seem to be 3 things that I can download there which would change my os to 2.4.83 (so i did that just in case) but it's still saying that my Android is 2.2.1.
I'm guessing that os and android are not the same? I really don't know. what else can I try?
Thank you so much for helping guys, I really appreciate it.

What is the exsact model you have? There a several with the '101' tag?
It's a generation 8 Archos 101 internet tablet 16gb.
Does that help? I'm not sure where to look to get more info.
Hi,
I'm afraid to say it appears that Archos decided not to update your tablet to IceCream Sandwich which is the minimum Android version required for the free features to work.
This means you will not be able to use the Free features of the Spotify app on this tablet. Apologies.
oh, that sucks. Is there anyway I can update the firmware without an archos update or would that ruin my tablet?
Well, thanks for all the help anyway, you've been great!
Cheers

I'm afraid not. I even looked at the custom ROM forum on XDA for you and there aren't any hackers which have managed to get ICS working on your tablet.
It appears the Hardware of the tablet just isn't enough to run JellyBean, which contains the framewrok for Spotify free to work properly. I really wish I could give you an answer to get it working, but theonly thing I could possibly suggest is getting a new tablet.
Apologies.
There is a 2.3 custom rom available but I'm not going there 🙂
Thanks so much mechanimal82 you're a star.
Sooooooooooooooooo, Joe.... what's this then? Why aren't you going there? Will it break my tablet if I go there?
Please tell me!
Amy
You're welcome to give it a try but you're best off in one of the android forums like XDA if you need advice or support.
