Spotify won't play song when mobile app first loads.

Spotify won't play song when mobile app first loads.

Hi,

Recently I've been experiencing an issue whereby when I switch off my phone (Samsung S8+), restart it, then go to Spotify to play the first song it suggests (i.e. the one I was listening too when my phone turned off). The song won't play when I press the play button (it doesn't go past 0:00 or wherever I'd paused it last time) and I have to press the previous button, then next button so it will start playing correctly.

Additionally, sometimes the music will pause randomly but continue when I press the play button. This doesn't seem related to any song in particular and it doesn't happen often but it's not very helpful.

I've made it so that the app isn't monitored and can use as much power as it likes. Additionally I've made sure the app is up to date and has full permissions. Is there anything else you can suggest? I'm currently subscribed to premium if that helps in any way.

Same problem im having seems to happen when the app is closed and reopened not able to play the current song until it's skipped and brought back. I thought it was because im using a older phone (HTC One M7).

  1. This used to happen to me, with my Moto G3. I recommend restarting your phone.
  2.  If that doesn’t work, try deleting the saved data cache from the app.
  3. If all else fails, try uninstalling and reinstalling the app. I know it’s a pain, but that was the only solution for my phone.
