Spotify won't send media information when in background

When I have my Sony Xperia Z2 connected to my car and play Spotify over the Bluetooth connection I noticed how Spotify won't send/update the media information (artist, album, title) seen on the screen in my car when the Spotify app is in the background.

Is this an already known and reported issue that will hopefully be addressed?

That's Android closing the particuar process due to the Spotify app being in the background. I find it happens after a whil of using Waze, unfortunately the only way to force it back is to get Spotify back in the foreground... This is a limitation of Android I'm afraid.
