Turning off the app on Android device?

I really like Spotify but I can't figure out how to quit the application when I'm done listening to music on my Android dev ice. Anyone have a clue?

The same way you don't quit most android apps. Hit the home key or start another app to send it to the background.

Sending it to the background doesn't turn it off.

Maybe I misunderstood you. To stop it playing you just touch the pause button. When you exit almost all android apps, they are simply sent to the background - spotify is no different. If you want to remove one of those apps from memory, you swipe it off the running apps screen.
