Why can't I listen to my playlists?

So, I go on spotify, I listen to 5 ads, which I was already pretty mad about, and then all of a sudden it won't let me listen to my playlists. Instead there's just a notification that pops up saying to get spotify premium. I tried again 2 days later and I'm still having the same problem. Is premium required now for playlists or is this app just bugging out like it usually does?
