Why did my Spotify download a playlist without permission? What does this mean for my 3,333 limit?

I charged my Note 8 and went back to it to answer a text and saw that my entire playlist was downloaded onto my phone without my permission. I checked everywhere to see how it happened, but it all says that I must have swiped the download button. This couldn't have been possible because the last time I listened to Spotify--on my phone--was yesterday, and the playlist wasn't downloaded at that time or this morning when I closed the app. Thankfully, I was at home so it didn't use any data, but now I'm unsure what this means. Does this mean it will randomly download other playlists as well now? What does this mean for my 3,333 song-download limit? I removed all downloaded songs from my phone because I didn't know what else to do.
