Widget Becomes Inactive on Android After Closing App

Solved!

Widget Becomes Inactive on Android After Closing App

Is this the correct behavior?  If I restart my LG G5, the Spotify widget will be active without the app being open.  After opening and closing the app, the widget becomes inactive.

Slacker keeps their widget active all the time, even after shutting down their app.  It's real handy as it starts and stops playing when connected to bluetooth in my truck.

Thanks,

Matt

I don't use the widget myself but, if I remember correctly from other posts, this is "normal" behaviour for the spotify widget. You could always post in the Ideas section for this to be changed.

Not sure I understand. When you add a widget to an android screen, it will always be visible whether its app is running or not. Do you mean something else?

Hi Joe,

When I first turn on my phone, without even going into the Spotify app, the widget appears like this...

Slacker and Google Music widgets stay active all the time, which works well with Ford Sync (2nd Gen).  I don't have to touch my phone to play music. I don't have to have the app open and can even disable notifications.  I turn the radio on and it plays Slacker.  Turn off the radio and it pauses. I can go into the Slacker or Google app and change station, close the app, and the widget still plays.

Spotify doesn't do this on my phone.
