Yet another problem with local files on mobile devices

Yet another problem with local files on mobile devices

I am trying to get some local files that are contained within a playlist that has mostly tracks from the Spotify library in it. I go to the desktop client on my computer, and the files play just fine. I go into the playlist downloaded onto my Galaxy S4, and it does show the green arrow, BUT when I go to play the song, there is no audio. The rest of the songs work just fine, but not the "local files".

What if you create a new playlist containing those local tracks and synch that to your S4; do they play then?

That does not work either. It's the same problem.

OK. To eliminate the possibility that there is something wrong with the original files, try copying them to your mobile and playing them with the built-in android music player.

They work fine in the stock music player.

I think I may have pinpointed the problem.

They are iTunes files, and even though iTunes plus makes their music files "DRM free", they are still protected.
