how do you suppress notification sounds (selectively)?

how do you suppress notification sounds (selectively)?

I love spotify but one thing bothers me to no end - when I'm listening to music from my mobile device, email, text, FB notifications made a sound and that interrupts the music. I've noticed that spotify ducks the music often, but this still is unacceptable. Is there any way to have spotify continue playing its content without any change in sound level except for a phone call (or text perhaps)?

When you're listening to music in your car loudly and completely absorbed by the music, nothing is worse than an unexpected interruption.

Thanks!

It's an android annoyance. You can turn off audible notifications for individual apps - it's probably not a good idea for Spotify to do this for you. If you have a bunch of apps which cause audible notifications, this can be a pain but you could always use Tasker or something similar to automate the process for you - or just put the phone in silent mode.

it is not an android annoyance. The behaviour is all up to the app developer.

It is due to Spotify's bad programming. They have  been ignoring this issue since almost a year now. Also see this thread: http://community.spotify.com/t5/Help-Android/Music-interrupted-by-notification-ring/m-p/235200#M1201...
