offline mode - all downloaded not playing.

Hi I hope someone can help as I'm really confused!
I was recommended Spotify by a friend who swears by it, as I work in a basement where the wifi connection is unreliable.
I downloaded and paid for the app and for a few days everything was fine but now even all the tracks with the little green symbol which I've "downloaded" will LOOK as though they are playing while in offline mode (time passes, next song comes up) but it's all silent. I've tried downloading again over wifi and 3g and neither work 😞 its really frustrating as this is the only reason I paid and it just isn't working.
Im using a samsung galaxy s4 and I'm signed in via Facebook. I have reinstalled and cleared cache a number of times and restarted phone countless times. Help?! 😞

Is this an issue when you are listening through headphones? What happens when you are outside of the basement and not using offline mode; do songs work then? What version of Spotify are you currently using?
