My Question or Issue
Hello all, I have a home network with multiple SSID's. for the simpel reason of security. All my trusted devices are on one SSID where guest are on an other and there is one SSID for IOT devices. Now you guessed it my phone is on SSID A where my harmon kardon speaker is on SSID B.
When i try to stream from my phone to the HK speaker spotify doesn't find the device. The google home app however does find the speaker and i can access it also (change volume). So, the fact that the google home app can connect to the HK speaker to me proofs the firewall settings are correct.
Does anybody know of a solution for this?

I found the answer to my own question after a lot of google-ing.
Posting it here so other may benefit.
I seems that spotify uses network port 5353 to find other devices.
Now port 5353 is multicast DNS.
And normally this does not work across VLAN's.
I my cast i turned off MDNS completly so...
The solution for me (all ubiquity network) was to first enable MDNS (IMGP snooping) and then configure a repeat of MDNS across the VLAN's.
After doing that spotify found the speakers and streaming is working perfectly.
Hey @MichelU,
Help’s here!
Start off by running a clean reinstall of the Spotify app on your Android device. This will get your current app version all latest updates.
Then try restarting your Internet connection and make sure both your Android device and the speaker are on the same network.
Let us know how you get on! We'll be here in case you need any further help with this.
Ivan thank you for the reply but i think the problem is in the sentence "make sure both your Android device and the speaker are on the same network.".
Both devices are on the same network but on different vlan's.
It is something the google home does not have any problems with. It can find the speaker just fine. Buy spotify only seems to search within the vlan where the phone is on.
Any ideas how to solvd this?
Hey @MichelU,
Thanks for keeping in touch.
We understand that both VLANs are in the same main network. However, since they're two isolated partitions, this might be causing this issue.
We recommend connecting both your phone and the speaker to the same VLAN. Let us know if this does the trick.
We'll be on the lookout.
Thanks for your reply.
I am not willing to connect both to the same VLAN as it will decrease the overal security of my network.
i am sure that when i connect both to the same VLAN it will work.
I hope that Spotify will ad the possibility to stream across VLAN's soon.
I want to thank you for your help op this topic.
Hi again @MichelU,
