sleep timer is no longer an option when casting to a device.

sleep timer is no longer an option when casting to a device.

Sleep timer seems to be only available now when listening to music on the phone and not when casting to another device such as a chromecast attached to a stereo. Previously this was an option when casting, now it seems this option has been removed when casting.

Hey @ejpontius,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

We've consulted with our tech team and they could confirm that the Sleep Timer is not officially supported when used in combination with Connect feature. Still, there might be some exceptions where certain devices do support the Sleep Timer with Spotify Connect, but we cannot guarantee it. That might explain why you could used it before.

We hope you found this helpful. We're always here to help.

Take care!

Hi AlejaR - streaming no longer having the Sleep Timer is affecting Google Cast but your response only covers Spotify Connect
There's another thread about this issue, which is a bug or feature removal which was introduced with the latest Spotify app for Android: https://community.spotify.com/t5/Android/Sleep-Timer-Missing-after-recent-update/td-p/5488422

It still works
- on Android: in the current app it is missing in UI so set Sleep Timer on the Android device before you start Casting
- on iOS (= Sleep timer still available when casting)

Can you ask the Tech team to advise re: this missing UX feature on the Android app when using Google Cast (but not Spotify Connect)?
The functionality still works, just the 'Sleep Timer' is missing in the UI

Hi there @Belistened,

Thanks for the reply.

You can check my reply in the other related thread you linked to for more information on the matter.

Hope this helps.

Apparently a sleep timer is too much to ask for, on top of that why is the longest time for an hour, it's so stupid. Spotify continues to get worse and worse.

Completely agree.  Why make life easier?  Too many complaints from advertisers even though we’re premium members?
