My Question or Issue

I am controlling spotify on my Mac through my phone.

Some control buttons work (play pause volume), others don't (previous,next, and also the progress bar remains frozen to 0:00 while the music plays). See attached screenshot timed 22:13.

However, if on the android screen resume screen (when you reopen the phone after a while), the next and previous buttons work fine. See screenshot timed 22:14.

I think this is a bug.

I did not have this problem in the past.

Hi Alex,

Without doing anything, the problem solved itself after a day or two.

It s been working for two days in a row. We'll see !

Forgot to mention the Spotify versions :
Android app 8.6.58.994 (latest)
Mac book 1.1.67.586.gbb5ef64e (latest)

This also occurs on the Windows client with Android for me.

 

Reinstalling on both Windows and Android devices did not fix the issue.

 

Interestingly, the Windows client also freezes at 0:00 if I try to attempt to play a track on my phone from Windows so definitely something in the middle rather than an individual device issue.

Sorry to hear that you're having such an experience with the app.

 

We'd recommend running a clean reinstall of the app on all your devices. Please follow the steps from this Spotify Guide exactly, as this will assure that all app data is cleared completely, before reinstalling.

 

If the issues continue after that, please let us know the following info:

  • Device, model, OS version.
  • Spotify version per device after the reinstall.

 

Keep us posted on how you get on with this.
