OK here's my solution steps that works for my mobile phone Xiaoping Redmi 3 using Android 5.1:
1)The music will stop playing when I press on either the Back or Home button. It's important to navigation to open the Recent Apps Tray in which I've set my Buttons by hold/Home button.
2) set up the Background Network to Stay Connected which is usually under Additions Settings :
Go to Manage Apps Battery Usage > Saving Power in the Background and choose Apps abd open Spotify to change the setting to Stay Connected.
3) You will need 1 other application first verdure opinion Spotify because It's important that you have more than one apps open therefore you can reopen another apps by navigating to the RECENT APPS Tray. That way Spots will not closed on you. And you do not need to log again to the Spotify acct to the browser apps.
Hope this helps you. Good Luck and enjoy the Music!

no, it's a moto g. i have juice defender set to aggressive. i believe that is the only power saving feature

That'll definitely do it as well! Can you set an exception in JD to exclude Spotify from it's process killer?

i can't see a way to do it. i think i might need the premium version to do so. can you suggest an alternative battery saver please?

I find Android's native battery saving features are now good enough to ensure the phone get's through a day

I used to use JD myself years ago, but since stopped and now just let Android manage itself.

i uninstalled juice defender, but stopify is still crashing 😞

any thoughts please

This happens to me too. I found a temporary fix to this annoying problem. If you log in again from a browser it will keep the playback on. Was about to submit a ticket but decided to check here first to see if I'm not the only one this issue is happening to. I'll keep on figuring this out as well.
