Having issues with the power cord

Just got my Car Thing today and I'm sad to say I'm already having issues. The power cord that came with it doesn't want to sit in properly and every time the cord moves in the slightest, it shuts off and I have to move it around til it turns back on. Also, even though it was working fine before I shut the engine off, the Car Thing gave me the "use the right adapter" message until I messed with the power cord some more. Definitely not something I want to have to do every time I get in the car. Anyone else having this issue?
