Hey folks!

Welcome to a new edition of our "Meeting Our Pets 🐶🐱" blog series.

This time, @Ivelina shared with us her fluffy beautiful dogs, her dream team: Nara & Roni. Let's learn more about them.

How did your pets become a part of your life? Is there a story behind it?

Nara - Her full name is Carbonara. Yes, like the spaghetti dish and she's a frenchie. It was love at first sight! I'm not very proud of the way we got her, because she was bought from a store, but I couldn't just look away from those eyes once I saw her. I'm not the biggest supporter of the whole "purchasing an animal" business, but even though you're paying money for a living creature, you're still rescuing it in order to give it a home forever and love it forever 💗

My boyfriend and I had just started living together when, in July, we passed by an animal store and I saw Nara on display. I immediately froze, staring at her when she looked at me and that was that. I fell in love. I had wanted a dog for so long and this was the moment! I did sleep on it, because it was a big step for me to think about and the funny thing is, that night I had a dream of a small white dog with black spots. I bought a pink collar and some toys. The next day, we got her, and I was the happiest I had ever been! To my surprise, I think she's "imprinted" on my boyfriend and has chosen him as her mommy 😁

Roni - Full name Pepperoni (okay, we love Italian food if you haven't been able to tell by now 😄). We actually adopted Roni 7 months after getting Nara (who had just learned how to do number 1 and 2 outside 😅) and I was a bit stressed in the beginning, because the puppy-days were once again ahead of me, but how could I say no to this cute little boy! He's the smallest and youngest of the litter with the biggest ears (just like mine, they're sticking out 😄) and he was literally calling my name! To this day, he's stuck to me like velcro, always following me around 

 

What are they like? Are there any traits you like the most about your dogs?

Nara - She is a Taurus and, just like the zodiac sign, very stubborn and also super smart! She loves to cuddle, she's a very sweet girl and always has to be lying next to you (she would put her paw on your foot) or sleeping underneath your covers. She has her own coats that she must wear should it be less than 10 degrees outside 😅. She's super cheeky and when she wants something, she will find a way to get it. And it's not just by giving you the puppy eyes, this one definitely outsmarts me sometimes.

Roni - The sweetest potato boy ever! He's pure joy, very obedient, very loveable and loooooves food and treats! He's mostly lying somewhere on his own most of the time and doesn't want to be too much in your personal space, but would give you lots of kisses if you approach him and start rubbing his booty 😁 He also loves toddlers and I think in his perception, they're just other puppies that he wants to play with.

 

What are their favorite treats/food?

Like most frenchies, unfortunately Nara's got a bunch of allergies which deprive her of being able to eat a lot of different types of meat, but she loves horse meat, wild boar and deer and for threats they both with Roni really enjoy eating carrots, apples, oranges, strawberries and especially cucumbers. Roni is not a picky eater and really likes any type of meat, no matter if it's in a meal or as a treat. Additionally, there are these peanut butter bone-shaped treats that we get from the animal shop that they go crazy about.

 

What are their favorite activities? Do they have any special skills you want to share?

To be honest, they are pretty lazy and sleep somewhere around the house most of the time 😅 But they really enjoy their walks when they get to go exploring and sniffing around. We tend to walk them 3 times - morning, afternoon and before bed, and we try to make their afternoon walk at least 30–40 minutes long. They are, however, pretty naughty and don't get along with other dogs too much, unfortunately. I'm not sure why this is exactly, because Nara used to be very calm and friendly before we got Roni, but I think they maybe think of themselves as a pack of 2, and they behave a bit violently towards other dogs, because they're looking out for each other. To mine and my boyfriend's luck, because of their laziness, they'll be sleeping late just like us and if I want to get out of bed at noon, for example, they won't move before me 😃

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Tell us some anecdotes (funny or special ones) about them.

Did I mention they're naughty? They may have big bat-looking ears, but trust me, they use them only when they decide to do so. None of them knows the word "sit" or what it means, but if you tell them "манджа" (Bulgarian slang word for "food"), they run towards the kitchen. Something cool worth mentioning is that every time we come home from a walk, they immediately go to the bathroom waiting for their paws and bums to be cleaned, so we did a good job at least with teaching them this. 😄Very proud of it! 😄
