#MusicMonday is the hashtag I've been using for quite a while to share music recommendations from up-and-coming artists. Always fresh, and always different, trying to look for trends before they become one. You can check January's review for more music.
This month's artists like to keep it simple. Even you short titles, their music will take you places only music can take you. Let yourself go, and give them a listen, with a word from the artists themselves.

The Queens – Words

Fumbling right through the words,
you’d swear that you’d been cursed
to test your patience.
The ripest words are too far
just to take.
always make them up
when it is far too late.
Find the words that I had died to say;
If only--
being heard was something beyond words
Hello from Iloilo City, Philippines! Let's start our world tour of the month with some Indie Rock, with a touch of Emo, about being an introvert when the time comes to express yourself. Is it always by design to never seem to find the words in time?:
"A lot of the songwriting I do for The Queens is very personal in nature. I have a tendency to write from my perspective about my own thoughts and experiences kind of like a diary or a note to self. Words is no exception.
I wanted to voice out a frustration of mine, where I kind of have trouble talking to people in person.. I enjoy talking to people, but I tend to a hard time knowing what to say. If I force it, I end up overdoing it and that’s not great either. It’s to a point where I consider a set of dialogues before speaking with people and try to plot out how those dialogue trees might go, kind of like an RPG character. Despite that, the things I really want to say often come up much too long after the conversation has ended.
With Words, I wanted to capture that feeling both through the lyrics and instrumentation, both to get it off my chest and hope that maybe somebody with the same frustrations will hear it and know that there are people who feel the same way."

Rotting Yellow – Thirst

Someone, somewhere, something else...
We fly now to Phoenix, Arizona for a Drone Metal track that combines slow tempo, and heaviness with some avant-garde minimalism and vocal sonic experimentation:
"The concept of 'the grass is always greener' and always seeking more than what you have and ending up with nothing in the end was a real inspiration for me. ☠️ And a lot of personal reflection in isolation."

Scared of Sharks – Is Water Wet?
What came first?
The Chicken or the egg?
I dunno
I like them between bread
Things are getting harder
The older I grow
Don't wanna be a martyr
But this is all we know
Let's move all the way to Mogareeka, Australia, for a Punk infused Indie Rock track, about how the most simple questions are the hardest to answer. It shouldn't matter but it does:
"So the song was written by the lead singer Taylor Schwifty.
Lyrically it’s meant to be pretty light. The topic of 'is water wet' was a regular occurrence in a shared house that Taylor Schwifty and Tim Shady lived in. Tim is of the opinion that water makes things wet but is not wet itself. And Taylor believes that it is wet as well as making things wet.
And the song came from one of those long 'argumentative' conversations between Taylor and Tim that went on far too long into the night. 🙏🏼"

Los de Marte – La Perra Inmunda
yo no vivo, sobrevivo, no malgasto, me desgasto,
sigo el ritmo batallando, yo trabajo sin descanso,
trabajando día a día,
qué vida tan malparía
mi madre dice relájate
que pronto suerte vas a tener
espera todo va mejorar
que la esperanza no se va agotar.
Let's keep earning frequent flier miles for traveling all the way to Tunja, Colombia, for some Rock en Español about laughing at the hardships of corporate life:
"It's more like a day by day crisis, but one day it exploded. Everything was going so bad in my job. It was full of rude bosses that don't respect their employees, and the phrase came up. That's how this song was created."

The House Flies – Twilight Eyes

Oh to love with rosemary
Sugar burns the mystery
Scatter slow and be discrete
She’s my sallow summer’s heat
We reach above the marble skies
Grabbing caution yield signs
In her arms the burner phone
Together we call desire home
We end this month's long trip in Moline, IL with a Goth Post-Punk track that sets up a cryptic scene, where a muse grips, and guides your hand with her eyes that don't try to shine:
"It all started with the bassline during one of our very first practices after starting this band. In fact, it was just 2 members at that time (now 4).
The bassline had this atmospheric and hypnotic feeling that felt right to continue throughout the song as the backbone. Then the changes in guitars and drums help add the dynamics and change the tone to keep the listener engaged.
We just wanted a track people could zone out to and feel like they went on a full yet strange journey by the end."
