[All Platforms][Other] Spotify changing versions of the song

[All Platforms][Other] Spotify changing versions of the song

So I've been noticing spotify changing the Version of songs that I've had in my playlist for years. For example they changed sound of silence by Simon and Garfunkel completly to an acoustic version and also space Oddity by David Bowie. it really pisses me off that classic songs like that are getting ruined. next thing you know they change another classic like Bohemian Rhapsody. Anyone know why they are doing it?

I have been noticing this too with Space Oddity where a lot of the song is different in a worse way. For example the guy counting down from ten isnt there anymore and I dont see anyway to go back. This is the only post on the entire internet that adresses this issue 😑

Hey @billy58,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community and welcome.

Take into account that tracks in playlists can only be updated by the owner. However, some songs could be replaced by the "same song" (title/artist) but on a different release due to changes in the permissions from the respective rights holders.

Some releases of songs and albums might get taken down from the Spotify platform in certain countries. When the track is reuploaded again, sometimes it could be re-uploaded with different metadata which leads to a different version. This may explain the “track switch” you might find in your playlist.

Hope this clarifies things up and remember the Community is here in case you have additional questions.

Cheers!
