DJ X keeps playing traditional and popular music of my country

My Question or Issue

I am enjoying discovering more music within my genre and artist cone with DJ X.

However, it keeps playing traditional and popular music from my country. Kwaito, amaPiano, SA rap, Gospel, etc. I don't like this music at all.

I skip every song, and have gone into many artists to click "don't play this" but the DJ just doesn't stop bringing up this music.

I understand the DJ is trying to "push boundaries" and I am happy with that aspect, but the only relation it sees between me and this music is country of origin. I've never expressed interest in anything remotely close to this.

What more can I do to get rid of this music?

Haha. I came here for the same reason. I have a few major issues with this:

1. Spotify has access to ALL my music listening, and nowhere in there is anything even remotely local

2. An international company, once again, sees South Africa as some homogenous land, where everyone is the exact same, and an amalgamation of the entire population. It's insulting. 

3. I guarantee it doesn't go 'here's music from your country that you must love because you live there' for US and UK audiences. **bleep**, I bet it doesn't play polka for Polish audiences

This is a stupid problem to have.

It actually does do that in the US too. It's why I don't use it. Hopefully they figure it out eventually.

Found a potential annoying work around, click on each SA song "go to song radio" select option to "exclude from your taste profile"

Also "view artist"  and "don't play this artist"

Do this enough times and the noise will stop being suggested. Sucks that a decent feature is ruined by them pushing **bleep** I've never shown interest in and skip immediately every time. Literally could not pay me to listen to this South African noise (All SA music is just noise, and the Afrikaans is cringy noise

The forcing of regional music on listeners has been a long term issue for Spotify. The fact that I've been visiting tons of threads relating to the issue over the last 5 years, shows they have no intention of fixing it. It'd be so simple to add a settings toggle to disable regional suggestions. Like really?
