Devin Townsend [& Project] missing albums in Japan

Solved!

Devin Townsend [& Project] missing albums in Japan

Dear Spotify,

Some Devin Townsend [& Project] albums (e.g. Ki and Transcendence) are available on Spotify from Japan but other albums, such as Empath and Z^2, are not available. I contacted Devin Townsend [& Project] discography (HevyDevy Records) and they told me they want to grant the distribution rights for Japan but it is up to Spotify to do so. Please, fix this problem and make such discography available in Japan. Thank you very much.

Regards,
Pedro

Hey @PedroMJ,

Thanks for the swift reply.

The best thing we can suggest is that you write your feedback in this content request form. This goes straight to the teams responsible for content on the platform.

As community moderators we don't have access to any more official details regarding the availability of certain copyrighted music and contracts with labels and artists.

Hope this helps 🙂

Hey @PedroMJ, thanks for reaching out to the Community!

Spotify wants all the world’s music and podcasts available, but availability can vary over time and between countries, depending on the permissions from rights holders.

More info about this can be found here.

Hope this helps!

Dear Billy-J,

I understand the dynamics in availability but, in the case I mention,
Spotify is not acting in favor of the decision of the artist. The
discography of the artist has confirmed that the albums should be available
in Japan, and Spotify can confirm it. Therefore, I ask whoever is in charge
of this in Spotify to please analyze this situation and make them
available. Thank you.

Regards,
Pedro

Hey @PedroMJ,

Thanks for the reply.

The content teams are doing their best to assure that most artists have their full discography available on the platform, however it is the copyright holders and labels who decide which albums, tracks can be made available for streaming in different countries.

Hope this makes sense.

Dear Alex,

Thank you very much for your response. I understand how Spotify works in
this sense but it is not the case. The artist and its discography said they
want their content to be available in Japan and that Spotify is not
responding to it. I insist that Spotify should analyze this situation and
make those albums available in Japan, which is the desire of the holders of
their copyright.

Regards,
Pedro
