I used Spotify to play white noise for my baby daughter and since then my Discover Weekly has contained only spa music and white noise.
I'm removed all the favorites, downloads and playlists of white noise and don't listen to it any more - however Discovery Weekly still contains only that. Been 3 or 4 weeks now.
How can I fix my discovery algorithm?
Hi there @mgb197912,
Thank you for your post here in the Community.
In this case we suggest that you keep on listening to the music you like and in time your discover weekly will change since it's based on your listening habits (what you like, share, save, skip) and the listening habits of others with similar taste.
We also suggest that you use the private listening feature when you're listening to your daughters music and white noise.
We hope this information was helpful.
Let us know if we can help you with anything else 🙂
Take care!
Hi Jeremy, thanks for your reply. I'm afraid this didn't solve the problem. It's been five weeks since it happened and I've listened, liked, saved many other songs but the problem remains. The section called 'more of what you like' also contains only whale music etc (see attached) . Can my recommendations profile be reset or reverted to what it was before? The discover weekly was the highlight of my Monday! Thanks
Hi @mgb197912,
Thanks for keeping in touch.
Currently there's no way to reset your recommendations profile, but it looks like others feel the same way and there are some relevant ideas you can add your vote to to show your support, if this is something you'd like to see implemented in the future:

I have been having this problem for months - MONTHS. At first I tried listening to ambient in private mode, then offline mode, and now I've resorted to never using Spotify for my ambient vibes. I even removed Bose Soundtouch presets to my favorite playlists in a 'hail mary' attempt to not have my Monday morning's filled with Whale Sounds and meditation zen titles. I still try every week, hoping that the Whale Sounds have gone, but every week I am still disappointed in Spotify's Discover Weekly.
Same problem here. Listen to white noise at night via Spotify, and now my Weekly Discover is useless. I've tried private listening and it hasn't helped (and also is a big hastles to turn on every night).
This is the huge problem I have with Spotify. They don't seem to give a rats ass about customers, they only push social, podcasts and other **bleep** we don't want. Give me a dislike button, let me manage my preferences. I don't want to guard my spotify from others or destroy my profile by listening to some bad music for a few hours.
My white noise theme for Discover Weekly has been ongoing for over 3 months. I’ve excluded every playlist that might have white noise, deleted them, listened to new playlists or songs while even letting it play all day with sound all the way down just to very different songs in my “algorithm”… yet still have white/brown noise themes… VERY FRUSTRATING!!
Same here. Months and months and months of this. I'm so disappointed. Discover Weekly used to be my favorite part of Spotify. Now I hate it. I just wanted to listen to brown noise to sleep. Now my Discover Weekly is trash. I've tried all the tips and tricks and still I'm stuck with a useless Discover Weekly playlist.
Man, it seems like this is a common issue. I used Spotify to listen to brown noise whilst sleeping for a few nights (less than 10 nights), I haven't used it since. Now my Discover Weekly AND Release Radar are just full of ambient meditation sounds. The discover weekly one I can understand but why is Release Radar also doing this? I haven't listened to ANY of the artists on my release radar before because they're all ambient music creators and I only listened to one specific set of brown noise sounds (I cross referenced the playlist I was using). I've since realised that outside of starting a private session, you can also create a playlist and mark it as "exclude from your taste profile but it seems that it's too late now.
I've been using Spotify since it was invite only (around 2007-2008 I think) and I've got years of listening history, I've been paying for it since it only had one tier, and premium since that existed. This has honestly made me want to drop it. What's the point of marking all the songs in these playlists with the minus if it has absolutely no effect, why does that button even exist? I've marked all these tracks with this option but they're still appearing.
What a useless mess.
The ideal solution for me would be to be able to delete X time of listening profile history, or to have the ability to remove specific tracks from that. Remove genres (as noted above) may also work but this gives less control over it when you know which tracks you listened to.

My Question or Issue
So for the past month my entire Discovery Weekly playlist is either meditation like ambient or down tempo music.
Which I sometimes enjoy but not as a part of my discovery weekly playlist but as a specific radio from time to time.
I don't know what to do to turn the wheel back to when I got good and music for my taste, this is obviously isn't fun to listen to every week and discovery weekly was one of the thing I was something I really anticipated every week to give me new awesome songs.
This is my discovery weekly now:
this is what I used to have:
Two completely different types of music, but the first one is been going for more than a month and I don't see how it changes to the type of music I enjoy listening which is Indie, World Music, Rock and not ambient slow tempo music obviously.
Same. My recommendations are **bleep**. I click 'remove' and it just 'hides' them. This isn't what I was going for.
Hi! I'm here to make the same complaint. I've been pretty conscientious about always turning on the private session setting before I turn on sleep sounds at bed time and my Discover Weekly and similar recommendations have, nevertheless, been nothing but sleep noises for at least A YEAR.
Y'all should just add a "sleep mode" toggle on the home screen as well as a "remove and don't suggest tracks like this in the future" option in the Discover Weekly list.
This appears to have been a problem for a lot of users for a long time. What are you guys even doing?
