Since it could be a temporary error, would you mind trying each of the following steps?

• Log out and back in. 

• Check the app is up-to-date.

• Reinstall the app and restart your phone.
  Note: After reinstalling, you'll need to redownload any music you've made available for offline listening.

If these steps don't help, would you mind letting us know what exact device(s) and operating system you're experiencing this with?

I have exactly the same problem. Due to a hack, my account was flooded with artists I do not like in a genre I do not like. I tried blocking them all (large genre; 1000s of artists were flooding my 'recently listened' and 'recommended' lists).

After a while I found that artists I previously blocked were unblocked again...

I worked with Spotify support to try and find why, but your explanation seems to be right to me as well; there must be a limit to the amount of blocked artists.

In the end I just created a new account; my original one is unusable if I want to enjoy recommendations and a reset is not possible apparently. It's sad 😞

I canceled my subscription because of this.  Don´t want my son listening Bad Bunny a his stupid friends.

There is music should not be on spotify or even exists.  At least should be a functional option to block it.

Tried, and actually tried on multiple devices.

Suspect to be spotify bug - if the playlist contains the banned artist, it still plays.

Thanks for the reply.

From what we can see on the screenshots, the song that appears in the playlist features the Artist in question, and it's not a single only by him.

The Don't play this function will allow tracks featuring an artist to be played. It only blocks singles or artists released specifically by that artist.

Hope this makes sense. Let us know if there are other songs from artists you've blocked appearing in your playlists.

There is not way to check the exact number within the app, but there are some users who have several thousand artists blocked, which can sometimes cause issues.

In this case, can you try un-blocking the artist > logging out > logging back in and blocking them again. Check if the song is still playable afterwards.

I have the same issue, block an artist but they continue to show up in playlists.  I have blocked over 100 and it seems to have stopped working.  is there a limit to how many you can block?

On another note, there isn't a set limit to the number of artists you can block. Just to confirm, are the artists you're seeing in your playlists just the ones you've recently blocked, or it's rather random?

I see artists that I have blocked in Daily Mix 4, e.g. I've blocked Neil
Young more times than I can remember yet he still shows up.  Others that
have been blocked multiple times, in this playlist, include John Mayer,
Aerosmith, Journey, and David Bowey.

In Daily Mix 1 Tom Rush has been blocked multiple times, as well as
Billy Idol.

In Daily Mix 6 Natalie Merchant, Marianne Faithfull, k.d. Lang and others.

I've given up using the feature and it's a major problem for me, enough
to consider other streaming services esp those with better quality audio.
