How is audiobook listening time calculated

How is audiobook listening time calculated

I have listened to just over 12 hours of an audiobook this month. Spotify is showing I have listened to 15 and maxed out (though the book is still playing), so I'm curious 1) how the time is calculated and if they count any time you rewind and 2) if there is a way to see detailed audiobook listening detail

Hey there,

Thanks for coming to the Community.

Spotify counts the audiobook listening time used based on each playback of an audiobook at normal speed. This means:

  • Adjusting the speed of the playback won’t affect the amount of audiobook listening time included/remaining in your allocation; and
  • If you relisten to a book, or part of the book, your allocated audiobook listening time will continue to reduce as normal.

You can find some more info about how audiobook listening time is counted here.

Lastly, there's no way to exactly know how much was listened to in total to an audiobook (taking into account any re-listening time), but you can create an idea for this here. 🙂

I hope this helps!
