How is it decided that a song gets on spofity exactly?

How is it decided that a song gets on spofity exactly?

I ask this mainly because of several interesting things I've noticed in my search for a song.

1. Kero Kero Bonito is an artist who's album, Intro Bonito, is on Spofity.

2. A playlist exists dedicated to the Secret Songs playlist from secretsongs.com, (Thanks to Ryan Hemmsworth for assembling said list).

3. Yet, a number of songs from the Secret Songs collection, namely Kero Kero Bonito's 'Flamingo' does not appear on Spotify.

Seeing as the artist is already supported, I'm wondering why a song already produced by a party is not available. It could a matter of acquisition of rights from the Spotify team... either way I just wish we had the quirky beats offered by Sarah, Jamie, and Gus.

My two cents,

Hey @Chainer123

A late reply is better than no reply at all.

Spotify tries really hard to get music available on their service, but in the end the availability of music on Spotify is up to the artist and their music label.

This thread by Spotify staff explains why some music is not available:
