I log on to Spotify and decide to listen to some music and I see that some songs are greyed out. Upon further investigation I see that all explicit songs are greyed out. I do a little more investigating and I start to go through the process of getting rid of this filter. But, there is no option for me to get rid of this filter. Does anyone have any solutions?
Hey @kingofdanerds
The switch for enabling and disabling the Explicit Content filter is in your Preferences. Perhaps it's currently disabled and that's why all explicit songs are greyed out. 🙂
Go to Preferences via menu dots - Edit and ensure that "Allow playback of explicit rated content" switch is turned green.
Let me know how you get on!
Oh sorry 🙂 What device are you using?
Mobile clients and tablets also have the switch in their Settings:
1. Tap Home .
2. Tap Settings .
3. Tap Explicit Content.
4. Switch Allow Explicit Content on (so it's green).
Let me know how it goes!
Unfortunately it's not possible to toggle explicit filter on that platform (web player).
That said, it is quite weird - is absolutely everything explicit greyed out for you? For example this playlist, is that also greyed out? (80% of songs in that playlist are explicit)

I'd suggest trying opening the web player in incognito window just in case. Also, try deleting cookies and cache.
Do you happen to be part of Family Premium? 🙂
Let me know!
Can you find the explicit versions of your greyed out songs when you search the tracks?
Also, have you tried clearing cookies and cache yet or did it not work?
I'll see what I can suggest 🙂
If possible, I'd recommend you try using Spotify on a different device as well as a different network (mobile hotspot counts too).
This is to verify if it's a problem with your device or your Spotify account. 🙂
Let me know how it goes!
If possible, I'd suggest installing Spotify on your mobile or desktop, log into your account there and then toggle the Explicit Content filter in its settings/preferences.
Let me know how you get on! 🙂
Hey @kingofdanerds
Sorry for a tad late reply.
Could you try creating another account on Spotify and see if the issue still happens on that one as well? 🙂
Let me know how you get on!
