Playlist filtering works backwards in Playlist Folders

Playlist filtering works backwards in Playlist Folders

Hi, Spotify premium user here, with a problem observed on latest Android version running on Samsung S10e.

The current view of "Your Library" shows everything - Playlists, Artists, Albums, Downloads. I have a small selection of many Playlists downloaded, and I want to see just these Downloaded Playlists. These Playlists are in Playlist folders. I select Playlists to filter out Artists and Albums.

Then I can see my Playlists and Playlist Folders. If I click into a Playlist Folder, I see all Playlists except the ones I have downloaded. There's no filter at this level so I click back, then select the Downloaded filter as well.

At this point I can see any downloaded Playlists, and Playlist Folders that contain Playlists I have downloaded. However if I click into a Playlist Folder, I can see only those Playlists that I have NOT downloaded. So essentially the filter is inverted.

How can I view my downloaded Playlists when they're in a Playlist Folder?

Thanks!

Tony

Hey @tonyb

Thanks for reaching out about this here in the Community.

Would you mind sending us some screenshots of the playlists in the folder in the desktop app (so we can see all of them) and other one of the mobile app (in which we can check that the one you downloaded doesn't appear)?

Also, could you let us know the exact make/model, operating system and Spotify version of your phone?

We'll be on the lookout for your reply.

hi @Eni, thanks for the reply.

It's a Samsung S10e, up to date Android, Spotify 8.6.30.889.

Here's my Spotify desktop Playlist Folder showing (for example) a number of Playlists that I'd listen to when out running.

This is what I see on my phone, first when I filter by Downloaded and Playlists, but without clicking into a Playlist Folder:

Then when I click into the "Running" Playlist Folder I see only the Playlists I haven't downloaded:

However if I search for "Running" from the top level I can see my Downloads in among the other Playlists in the same folder (but this is painful and I'm sure not what you intended):

Thanks for any further suggestions.

Hey there @tonyb

Thanks for the info you've sent so far.

We could replicate the issue with the downloaded playlists, so we'll pass this info on to the right team to be looked into.

Could you let us know if you're able to sort your playlists in folders by custom order in the mobile app? We'd like to know if you see that specific option. Sending us some screenshots would come in handy.

We'll keep an eye out for your reply.

Hi - since my last post, my Spotify updated to version 8.6.32.925 and the Downloaded Playlist visibility issue appears to be fixed. Thanks!

Also I looked at the custom sort. I arranged my playlists in that "Running" Playlist Folder above, and I could see the same folder update accordingly on my phone. However, when filtering by Downloaded Playlists I get a different sort order now (this is after the 8.6.32.925 update). I've got "Custom Order" selected as my sort, and clicking into the Playlist Folder gives me the downloads first in random order, then the non-downloads in Custom Sort order (in this case alphabetical). Screen shots below.

Hope that's useful.

Hey there @tonyb

Thanks for sending us that info.

We're glad to hear that the new version fixed the issue with the downloaded playlists.

Regarding the sorting options, we tried to replicate it, but it worked fine. Would you mind sending us a screen recording of the issue happening so we can take a closer look?

We'll be waiting for your reply 🙂

Hi,

I've noticed that the Playlist Downloads filter is only partially working - although my Downloaded Playlists (in a folder) are shown when I select "Playlists" and "Downloaded" as my filters, it also shows me the non-Downloaded Playlists in that folder as well. Is this what you'd expect? See screen shot at the end of this post.

Also I'm confused about the Custom Sort question - I'm not sure what you're asking me to do, as I haven't reported a problem with Custom Sorts. In previous replies I thought you were asking me Custom Sort questions as if it was something to do with filtering. Can you clarify?

Thanks,

Tony

Hey there @tonyb,

Thanks for getting back in touch and for the clarification.

We're sorry for the confusion, we thought you were also having inconveniences with that sorting option, but it seems that it works fine on your phone.

We can confirm that the filtering won't work within the folders at the moment, so that it's expected behavior in the app that you can see both downloaded and not downloaded playlists there.

You know where to find us if there's anything else we can help you with.

Have a great day 🙂
