Podcast restarting when I go in between apps and back to Spotify app

My Issue is that whenever I start a video podcast I can let it play and the audio will still continue even if I switch to another app but once I go back to Spotify app it loses all progress and restarts the podcast.

Also I have already tried deleting the app and reinstalling it.

Same issue here. App failure when moving between apps. Restarts when I return from one app back to Spotify.

Even tried deleting the app and redownloading Spotify and it didn’t resolve the issue.

Same issue here. It occurs consistently when listening to Lex Fridman Podcast on an iPhone SE (3rd Gen) with iOS 15.4:

1. Open Lex Fridman Podcast
2. Seek forward to e.g. 10 minutes
3. Press iPhone’s home button
4. Open Spotify app again from home screen 
5. The podcast restarts at the beginning

The work around I found to save your spot is if you’re in another app just close the Spotify app completely without re-entering it and when you re-open the app it will save your spot. But they still need to fix this issue.

Same thing is happening to me. So annoying to have to find my place again when i was over an hour into an episode. And Spotify still doesnt have video support for PS4/PS5.

Same issue as well. I tried a clean re-download which involved clearing my cache in the app, deleting it, turning my phone off and on then re-downloading. Nothing has worked and it’s so frustrating! Only started experiencing this glitch yesterday.

Same here + it sucks for my car too. Whenever someone calls me, after I hang up the music doesn’t come back…

I'm having this issue too. Its making JRE unwatchable. I like using my phone to answer calls, and send text messages but apparently spotify requires 100% of my attention to operate properly. This literally makes the application unusable. Will cancel if not fixed before my next bill.

I am experiencing the same issue. iPhone 13 Pro Max. It only seems to be for podcasts. Music tracks do not rewind when navigating between apps. 

Issue: Start podcast in Spotify app. Navigate away from Spotify app but let it run in the background. Navigate back to Spotify app. Podcast track jumps back to the timestamp when I navigated away from the app. Not sure why it only does this to podcasts and not music tracks.

Temporary solution: Force closing the Spotify app before navigating back seems to keep the new timestamp. Not a permanent solution. 

Will a Spotify Admin acknowledge the issue?

This seriously needs to be fixed. With all of the problems Spotify continually has with podcasts I’m about done with this app.
